The Yellow House

There are a few neighborhoods nearby that I would love to live in when the time is right, so I am always doing my research to see what's out there. One house I found a year and a half ago was stunning, and all done in yellow! All images via Kentwood Homes.

We all know now that the Pantone color for 2009 is Mimosa.

Now, this particular house wasn't this shade of yellow, but it was a cheery, warm, yellow. I normally wouldn't love an all yellow home, although the great room in my last home was yellow. This house, however, had just the right amount of crisp white mixed in with it to balance out the yellow. Let's take a look:

As you enter the home, you are greeted by a gorgeous staircase.

Here's another view from the living room. The Brazilian Cherry floors are gorgeous with the yellow! Just beyond the staircase is the living room:

On the right of the stairs is the study:
On the left of the staircase is the dining room:Just beyond the dining room is the kitchen:
Look at all the space for barstools!
The hearth room sits right off the kitchen.

Upstairs is the beautiful master bedroom:

And adjoning bath:

I think this realtor did a great job showcasing this home. Who would've thought a yellow home could be so beautiful?

I don't think I've ever seen a bathroom done in yellow. I love it!! Very pretty. In the living room, are the chairs in a yellow fabric? I can't tell; it looks like it. It's the shot taken from above.....I also found more yellow rooms when looking for images for my next post. Thanks for coming by to see me. -susan

Susan- I found another close up image of the chairs on my computer. There are 2 that are a pale yellow, 2 that are a yellow and cream damask, and the sofa is a damask with yellow, grey and white, (I think). There are also 2 other chairs that are a white and yellow buffalo check.

Even though yellow is my favourite colour, I have found that when people use yellow as the 'main wall colour' it an be too much for some reason. The homes that I have been hired to pick colours for (that are painted yellow throughout) it's no that the client wants to paint over all the yellow, they usually want me to pick some coordinating colours to work WITH IT. The colour world is a fascinating place.

And I love the drape in that bathroom, it especially works because of how high the rod has been installed!
Great post, I've never seen a house as elegant as this one done in ALL yellow, that is really something!

These pics are just simply gorgeous. But who can keep a house that neat?
