Goobye Summer…
Well, school started last week for our children. The summer was good while it lasted. It is now a distant memory. We will miss this:

Now back to the real world, which includes this:
We were at a soccer tournament all weekend – it was exciting. I think I lost a few pounds from being nervous for our girls. The above picture was from the championship final game in our bracket. The score was 0-0 at the end. We ended up losing 4-2 because of the tie breaker penalty shootout. Heartbreaking, but I think we are now over it. :)
By the way, you see #4 in red above? She has bubble wrap around a green cast. She broke her wrist a few weeks ago at soccer camp. She played tough even with that cast. I’m a proud mama…
Have a great Monday everyone!

Keeping Home

I'm buried in laundry. Anyone else having a hard time keeping their home in order with children around during the summer?
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Summer

"Summer" is on Etsy. Click here to view.
In 4 hours, Summer officially begins for our family. As in my painting above, I am planning on basking in the sun most of my summer.....yeah right, in my dreams! What I'm actually doing is driving around like a madwoman trying to get my kids to swim lessons, sports camps, tennis lessons, and playdates. We do have a fun filled summer planned, though. When I look at our calendar, it is packed full. That is why I'm going to apologize beforehand in case I don't get around to posting much in the next couple of months.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Summer Fairies
This is our kids' last week of school. We can't wait for the fun to begin! The art above was done 2 summers ago. It is printed on a 16x20 canvas and it resides in my younger one's room. I was playing around in Photoshop, trying to learn a few things. The girls dressed up in their princess costumes and I merged, filtered, colored, and generally experimented away at my heart's desire! When I look back at this, I see a lot of things I could have done differently to make this a seamless photo, as if you look carefully, there are a lot of mistakes.Sometimes I am so embarrassed by some of my earlier works. I look at some paintings I did 15 years ago, and I think, "yuk". Too embarrassed to give them away, and I don't have the heart to throw them away. They are stashed in our basement storage room taking up space! I have to remember, though, that I have grown. I can't learn without experimentation and mistakes. The fun part is seeing how far I've come!
Currently, I am knee deep in experimentation again. My passion for art is continuing to expand to not only from doing my fine art paintings, but to photography, and merging it all together. I'm never content with my work, perhaps it is because I love the learning process! How about you? Are you content with your work, whatever it may be?

It’s Almost Over!
This month has been insane! Between all the school activities and programs, and birthdays, I am exhausted! The picture above is the last of my daughter’s birthday parties. It has been a 3 week celebration between my family, my husband’s family, our own family, and finally here with her friends. In both my husband’s and my family, there are 9 birthdays in May and early June.
There are 7 days of school left, and all the parents are counting down the days! I think I am more excited than the kids – no more driving back and forth to school, no more homework….although, I have traded in our school schedule to now an insanely busy summer schedule….
The above picture is of a field trip I went on with the kindergartners. It was at a ranch where the kids got to ride ponies, go on a hayride, and have a picnic. We were sitting in the hayride in this picture. The horses came right up to where we were sitting, and the kids got to feed them some hay. It was all good and fun until the wind kicked up, hay got in our eyes, and we were covered head to toe in the itchy stuff! It was quite funny actually, but there were kids screaming because some of the horses got a bit too close.
What a scene, isn’t this pretty?
